Meteorite | Chondrite | 30-35g
Product detailed description
Chondrites are the most accessible type of meteorite. Yet their story is no less fascinating. They formed around 4.56 billion years ago, several million years after the solar system was formed, making them the oldest known objects you can touch. They have remained unchanged since their formation (unlike everything else you'll find on our planet) and provide us with contact with the primitive material from which all the planets in our solar system, including our Earth, were formed.
The dark crust of this particular piece is evidence of its extraterrestrial origin and Earth's robust protective barrier that makes it difficult for meteorites to reach our surface.
Holding such a piece in your hand, one of the few to have made its extraordinary journey to our mother Earth, is, as with all meteorites, an exciting experience.
We currently have more of these stones weighing 30-35 grams, the picture is therefore illustrative, but on request we will be happy to send a photo of the specific piece you are ordering.
