Meteorite | NWA 14057 | Ureilite | 162,43 g

Product detailed description
Ureilites, including this NWA 14057, are a rare type of achondrite meteorites that are characterized by their specific composition and structure. They contain a high proportion of carbon in the form of graphite and microdiamonds, indicating that they were formed under high pressures and temperatures. Some studies suggest that ureilites originate from a planetary body the size of Mercury to Mars that was destroyed by collisions in the early stages of the solar system.
Analyses of diamonds found in ureilites show that these minerals could only have formed under pressures in excess of 20 gigapascals, consistent with conditions inside larger planetary bodies. This supports the theory that ureilites are the remains of primordial planets that no longer exist in our solar system.
Ureilites are therefore a valuable source of information about the early stages of solar system evolution and the processes that led to the formation and subsequent demise of some planetary bodies.
