Meteorite | Eukrit | Achondrite | 1558g
Product detailed description
Two billion years ago, the asteroid Vesta - one of the largest in the Solar System - collided with two meteorites. The fragments that were ejected into space eventually hit our planet. Meteorites that come from the crust of asteroids are called achondrites, and eucrites are the most commonly found type. These are rare finds, as achondrites make up only 3% of all meteorites that fall to Earth.
Owning this eucrite includes a bonus that you won't find in the vast majority of other meteorites. In fact, you can see the cosmic body from which it came several times a year with your own eyes. Asteroid Vesta is the most visible asteroid from the Earth's surface (over 500 km in diameter) and can be regularly observed with the naked eye. It's so fascinating that the object from which the meteorite in your collection comes is literally within sight.
