Product detailed description

Known since ancient times as a valuable material for the production of various tools, the development of vulcanite has been interesting. At the end of the 18th century, a more detailed study of them began, revealing that their origin is not only volcanic, as originally thought. But the real story of the wavines involves one colossal cosmic event.
The igneous rocks would not have formed without the impact of a cosmic body. But these are not meteorites per se, but tektites. The word "tektite" comes from Latin and means remelted, altered by melting, which tells us what kind of material it is. Tectites are natural glass that was formed by a meteorite impacting the Earth's surface.
Moldavites are approximately 15 million years old and were probably formed after the impact of a huge meteorite that formed the present-day Rie Crater near Nuremberg. During the collision with the Earth's surface, streams of liquid material were ejected, which solidified and subsequently landed in what is now the Czech Republic, Saxony and Austria.
This area was covered with millions of volcanic rocks, but only one percent of them have survived to the present day. Most of the wolds have been eroded and lost permanently. That is why pieces like the one we offer are rare and highly sought after.

The shape of the waves is as fascinating as their origin. Each piece is unique, thanks to a number of factors that have influenced its final form. During their journey through the atmosphere, wavines were subjected to extreme temperatures and pressures that shaped their unique shape and surface. Some are even covered with tiny pits, called sculptures, created by erosion caused by ablation during their flight through the atmosphere.
You'll find everything from smooth spherical shapes to elongated droplets or curiously convex forms. The different forms and shapes of the wavicles are then influenced by the different cooling rates of the liquid material after the meteorite impact. This variation in the shapes and sizes of wavines adds another dimension to their uniqueness and appeal to collectors around the world.

That's why we are now offering the entire mini collection of Vltavines for purchase at a bargain price.
